Offering a drink is something we do quite often especially when some ones turned up late ish . It then leave it open for them to ask for a hand or for you to offer . Not having to worry about setting your stove up before you get a brew is just nice .
We use to get quite a few offers of a brew when we cycle toured . Last year I offered some help to a retired couple as they had been struggling some time . A day or so later I found a watch in the showers so I handed it in . Turned out to be our neighbour I'd helped he came over with a four pack and a firm hand shake to thank me . Earlier this year we lent our tarp to a young family who had just started to BBQ when the heavens opened . They thanked us with a Hugh case of bier . Far to much for us so I passed some on to another group of campers they in turn left there remaining logs when they left . We left a few logs and a bag kindling in the fire pit for the next campers

Some folk are just plain bl**dy rude.

I blame the government for stopping school milk!

primary kids still get free school milk up here. They can choose milk or water after playtime to help them calm down after morning playtime.

As for the OP's post: How rude of the people. No matter how stressed they were there is no need for them to be rude

I agree, it's simply rude and bad manners. But if no-one taught them manners, then they won't know they are being rude.

I am forever grateful to anyone who offers help to me, and always accept! At a campsite last year I was on my own and a couple came and helped me set up and put up my awning, which was very good of them, I think they could see me struggling as I have back problems, have to wear a back brace and stop quite a lot in the process. They were in a campervan, and we spent a few days seeing the sights together in my car, to save them packing everything up. They were great company too!

Reminds me of the Harry Enfield TV character "Ooooh, you don't want to be doing it like that."

A few years back when struggling to put our tent up one of our neighbours strolled over. I was ready to accept any help offered but he proceeded to tell us how it should be done.

Now it wasn't in a rude way or anything but sometimes people would prefer the offer of help rather than someone just telling you how to do things.

We weren't rude and in fact hubby then got into conversation and they both chatted whilst I continued to struggle at putting the tent up

We will happily accept any offers of help. In fact, you can even take over whilst we have a cuppa, lol.

Totally agree with this. Its not what you say sometimes but how you say it. We've met two of these types already in our relatively limited camping experiences. Some people really apparenty do know it all !

Of course it could be they were simply rude

Thats really rude :(

We came back today from our first camping break, our neighbours were fab, we bent their ears for advice, they were fab. I would never be that rude, we appreciated all the help and advice! X
