If you let off a large quantity of helium balloons you have to inform Air Traffic Control and get their permission to do so.

we have just come home from a lovely week end there but saw the lanterns they were drifting our way at one point but then drifted off my OH and friends could not sit and enjoy the evening until they were sure they had stopped.
