My daughter has a yellow board at school instead of a white board, she has yellow tinted glasses, and yellow reading overlays. She also uses yellow writing paper.

It makes such a difference and it's great that things are available for kids nowadays. I need my overlay because I have the laziest eye ever. Does your daughter have dyslexia or irlens?
My daughter has both, she has trouble with processing and her short term memory is not that good,if the word brown was written in red pen she would say red. But she is very clever but just can't put her thoughts down on paper. You can probably tell iam dyslexic.

That must be so frustrating for her, bless her. But she obviously works extremely hard. Good on her and a credit to you! xx
Like em1982 my son's problems were evident at primary school. Reading age went back when they changed to smaller print and his scanning went all over the place.School puzzled . Education Psychologist saw nothing wrong! Son could remember alphabet if he sang it but could not otherwise.
After hearing an expert on local radio we contacted him privately and saw an almost immediate improvement.
The consultant could not write down his thoughts but could type them. Son's problem was due to difficult birth then he missed the crawling stage which is important to brain development.

How is your son getting on now? I can't believe the Ed Psych didn't notice, that's really awful.
He improved greatly after taking him to see the consultant. However he had a frustrating time through Junior and early secondary days .It took him a long time to gain confidence having lost so much education.
He is now 40 with a partner , 2 lovely girls, mortgage
etc. He has held a wide range of jobs but now settled into sales and is doing really well.
The consultant was head of research and we were amazed that after a few questions by phone he told us with impressive accuracy what my son could not do, eg he could not do the crawl in swimming, could not tell the time by a clock with hands and could not write for long without his right knee and elbow raising up to the point where it was impossible to write.
I have worked in Education and know that £££s can cloud some issues.

You have just described are daughter problems, she has no clue about time, swimming but she is very caring bright funny and full of energy. Her school teacher said to my wife you no she can't tell the time,my wife said yes we no and we are working on that it's part of her problems and the teacher just rolled his eyes.

That's wonderful - I'm glad he's getting on so well. xx
Bexamy - how helpful of the teacher - NOT. Don't take that kind of rubbish. Have you spoken to the head teacher about a possibility of support teaching for your daughter?xx

She did have intervention, but now she has improved and just below average the school stopped the interventions. We work with her a lot at home.
