Thankyou for all your kind thoughts ans suggestions, Kay will be starting her radiotherapy on Monday next week, for 5 days. Shes not so well today and looking slightly jaundiced. The cancers in her Liver are rather large, and she also has a scattering of tumours throughout her lung, the cancer is becoming generalised throughout her body, and the best we can hope for is that the treatment will shrink these a little and ease her symptoms.
Dawn, that is an excellent idea, and its quite do-able up on my Dads farm, hes got all the old china stuff, and its in beautiful peaceful suroundings, where Kay can relax and not worry too much if she feels sick or spills anything. Im now thinking of doing this on Sunday for her.
I will update this thread as and when we know more, l also will probably need some advice from anyone on here regards powrr of attourney, and what to do if the deeds to a house have been lost, both things that l need to deal with over the next comming weeks.

Hi Julia,
My heartfelt thoughts are with you and your daughter and family. I sincerely hope her treatment is as peaceful and as painless as possible.
I sadly lost my brother to stage 4 bowel cancer a few years ago aged 46, and made the trips to Derby Royal hospital to see him.
I live down the road from The Bay, at Filey. Obviously I haven't stayed at The Bay, but have been up there when DD had swimming lessons at the pool.
The houses are lovely, very quaint fishing cottages with larger houses and New England style wooden chalets. It has wildflower meadows and a fishing lake, there is a small indoor pool, gym and pub, a pharmacy and Italian bistro on site.
The views towards Filey Brigg, beach and Flamborough Head are lovely. It has it's own access down to the beach, a little steep towards the bottom, but has a tarmac drive for wheelchair access and there is disabled space for a couple of cars to drive down as far as possible to the beach, past the wildlife ponds.
I hope your daughter gets her wish and you can spend precious time together as a family.
Regards Sam x

Thankyou all for your kind wishes. Kay has had her first radiotherapy treatment to her brain today, and although rather tired from it all, shes otherwise not feeling as bad as she did yesterday when we spend 5 hours in A&E trying to sort out some stronger pain relief for pains in her hips and pelvis. Shes now on morphine sulphate, ibruprofen, paracetamol, tramadol, and an anti-sickness tablet to help with the side effects of this strong cocktail of drugs. On advice of A&E, l have today contacted her oncologist to request a full body bone scan to look for bone metasteses, because if left untreated, her bones could become thin and suffer pathological fractures very easily.
Today has also been a busy one for me on the phone to our solicitor. Although my next youngest daughter is a qualified LLB law graduate, shes not yet gained her LPC and feels that shes too emotionally involved to help us sort out Kays will for her at the moment. One problem we are facing is the time scale to get Kay's will sorted, which will take about 3 weeks, and the Power of attorney for both finances and care componants could take upto 6 months to process, which simply is time we probably dont have, and its now that l need to start sorting things out, and be able to make decisions on her behalf, as she has asked me to.
We are also having to deal with Kays husband and the 'Mans Man'pent up emotions hes suffering that unfortunatly are manefesting themselves as a deep lack of trust towards family members and sheer anger at the situation he finds himself in. Unfortunately this resulted in him shouting and screaming at Kay on Sunday evening just because we could not get a phone signal to keep intouch with him whilst we were down in A&E. Luckily, l now have a good level of trust and communtication with Kays GP, and they are aware of this problem and are looking to put in some support to help him deal with his emotions in a more positive way.
Its also been a bit of an emotional day for me too, l went to see my DIabetic Nurse at my local GPs surgery, and after she had read my notes on the computer from last week, she hugged me tight and we both ended up crying together, as after 8 years of her wonderful care, she was leaving today to take up a new post about 10 miles north of our surgery, and l probably wont ever see her again. Shes been such a wonderful support over the 18 months since Kay's first diagnosis with this cruel disease.
Thankyou Sam for reminding me about 'The Bay', l know it quite well as we went for a nosey drive around the little estate when it was first built, but l was under the impression that it it was a holiday Village for owner-occupiers only, and they did not have a short term lettings scheme like Haven do? Its a lovely little place indeed.
Julia
