Basically any diet will work so longs you stick to it! The trick is finding what works for you, what you are able to maintain, because maintaining your new way of eating is the key.
I've tried them all, SW, WW, cabbage soup, several shakes but the most successful "diet" is eating less and moving more. In theory it's simple but it's never easy in practice. Everyone goes on at me to just have one slice of chocolate, well that doesn't work for me, I'd not be able to stop. I've had to cut out the chocolate as the amount I was eating was verging on obsessive. If you are unable to move more then you need to eat even less, so do what you can in the way of movement.
Porridge or cereal for breakfast, fruit mid morning, soup or a salad with ham or chicken and a wee bit dressing for lunch and maybe some more fruit, then anything I fancy at dinner time just less of it, psychologically for me I always leave something on my plate. I'll have coffee in the evening and that's that. If I eat out at the weekend or have a takeaway, I enjoy it but aim to cut back even more the day after. Yes I do get hungry but I try to embrace that feeling, I'm certainly not starving or going to waste away if I feel a bit of hunger.
I am exercising more, I'm able at the moment, 30 minutes 3 times a week, that does help but before I restarted the exercise I was still losing weight. It's a slow process. I've lost 8lb in 10 weeks but I'm not aiming to lose it overnight. Sometimes life gets in the way, holidays, weddings, parties, nights out etc and those things slow the loss down but that's real life. I've stopped worrying about those times when you can't be good. Just enjoy myself and get right back to my new normal the next day.
I've had a few days recently where chocolate has made it's appearance in my daily routine again and I've learned that I just can't have it in the house. I've not eaten anywhere near the amount I usually would but it could be a slippery slope so it's gone!
Weight loss is never easy and what works for one person may not be what suits you or your lifestyle, give something a try and if it doesn't work, try something else. Good luck
