The general level of education attainment probably hasn't changed that much since Stuart was at school.

What has changed is that advances in technology are forcing more and more people to use written communication, something that illiterate people wouldn't have needed to do in the past.

I also think that educated people are becoming more tolerant of poor communication ability. This is evidenced by the increase of regional accents on the BBC.

One thing I hate is text talk, I can sort of understand it on a phone , ( only a certain amout of words per text message ) , But why oh why do people write like it in emails?. It takes me ages to decypher them, in the end I don't bother reading them or replying to them, if they can't be bothered to write in proper English, then it doesn't warrant my attention or reply.
Still, I think text talk is slightly better than hearing White youngsters talking
like Black gangsters...What is all that about BRO? :-)

i think part of the problem is technology, its not always good and tends to hinder more than help.Especially in my job.Ebay is a joke these days, bad english aside, just look at the prices, such as a japanese pachislo machine with colour lcd screen, listed as vintage but only 3 years old,to be vintage or classic it has to be aminimum of 20 years old

Glyn.
I know we are not alone, it seems the more and more I talk about it with people, the more they all agree...
What with that and the state of the country , and the bloody stupid "PC Brigade" ( Whoever they are ) I think we should stand to be MP's.....
Then we can get this once great country of ours back on track ..    :-) .

Oh now you have got me going, I am off to Hyde park & speakers corner with my soap box...

Ah,so people with regional accents are poorly educated. Does that include your region Ollie,or just the rest of the country?
