Does not take all round observation before starting the exercise.
Does not look out of rear window while reversing.
Relies on door mirrors to observe while reversing.

My car like many others has a camera and parking sensors. I can see a lot more on the screen than I can looking over my shoulder. Maybe time to update driving test? What if you took it in a van?

Alan, at least now you don't have to worry about it. The insurance company will deal with it. And don't beat yourself up about the 56 years no claims.

Thanks Mike,all I want now is warm weather and time in the van, NCB will be last thing ill be concerned about when im soaking up the sun

Firsty would it not be easyer to reverse up the drive , & about the neigbour not accepting scrap yard door even the main dealers are told to use second hand parts when available .

If you read what I posted you will see that I specifically referred to taking the test in a car in response to quilly1's comment that he never looks out the rear but relies on his mirrors.

I don't think you have much of a case unfortunately bnmuk.

He was on the carriageway and you reversed into him from your drive. Reversing from a drive is against the advice given in the Highway Code.

You are duty bound to keep checking everything during the whole of your manoeuvre and apparently you didn't.

Bear in mind also that he may be on one of his interest forums relating how he was on the road and was reversed into by his neighbour from his drive and all the neighbour could say was that he had 56 years NCB and had the cheek to expect him to go halves!

I'm being Devil's Advocate but there are two sides to each story.
