When it comes to 'free' upgrades I check prices of plans before being tied into a new contract. That is why I am holding on to my galaxy s3. It is working just great and it will be three years old in the new year. It hasn't got 4g but neither has our area. The only thing it doesn't do is hook up by cable to linux which my wife and daughters newer samsungs do. I might try rooting it and try newer android version or Ubuntu.

I stayed with my present mobile network because I can't find any other with totally unlimited data for £15 pcm.

O2 Ireland was bought over by 3.
I was ready to move but they offered a free upgrade and €30 reduction in my monthly bill. I also have free 4G for a year. Couldn't refuse.
I have never had a problem hooking up an Android to pclos. It is Linux talking to Linux. Try looking in your repo for a program to interface with the phone.

Lucky we have choice - no problems here with Apple products still use my 4s as daily phone and have done updates. Bought a new battery earlier in year and this helped massively.

We have some Android tablets in house with kids and they just aren't as slick as the Apple stuff for 95% of the stuff I use a tablet for.

I do however agree with itune comments - hate it!

The minute the item stops working, it has no longer "life" so the guarantee is no longer valid.

As someone who has a phone - no camera, wifi, music or whatever, I am intrigued by updates.

With the more expensive phone, are people's calls and messaging nicer?

It's a fair point, and exactly what we did with our new phones. We also seriously considered buying SIM free and BT's new SIM only deal for their existing customers. But their choice of plans wasn't as attractive for our exact needs, and that's before we shelled out £1000 upfront for two phones. At 32GB. If we'd needed 128GB each it would have been £1400.

I can see a point when we're not bothered about tech anymore and will then just keep with what we've got and go SIM only. But we're not there yet, and for now we like shiny baubles.

Each to their own.

Much nicer, the latest IOS software update means you get an ear massage whilst talking on the phone.....

I used to have ZX81 when young, wouldn't want to do my work on one now though

Phones aren't simply used to make calls an message these days though are they ?!

KDEconnect does show my phone but doesn't connect properly to it. My wife and daughters phones connect effortlessly. I use airdroid instead and it is awesome.
