I think you were very polite Kate, walk across my mate Colin’s fields and you will get it big time....Too right to. Right to roam my arse, what gives the right of anyone to just walk over someone else’s ground. 😡😡 Unless there is a PF of course.
Ficklejade. Tens of thousands of hectares of land in England and Wales also have free grazing animals, I have spent the last 45 years avoiding cattle, sheep and ponies here on Dartmoor. So far this year 155 animals have been killed by traffic, and dozens killed and maimed by dogs on Dartmoor.
Not great if it is your livelihood, as it is to many good friends of mine.
A bit off topic but this thread has brought back a memory.
When I worked in the Valleys, back in the ‘80s, I had cause to call at an ordinary terraced house in a typical village. When the front door opened, I was confronted by a full grown sheep.
The lady of the house shoved it aside, saying apologetically, “bloody thing got out of the kitchen “ and we continued our doorstep conversation without further reference to it.
I frequently had to push past sheep to get from the front gate to the front door, but coming face to face with one on the other side of the door was a first
Mike3003, I was not in any way decrying other parts of the UK but was only speaking for my part of this country and my daily current experience; I'm sorry if you feel I do not care about any other part of the countryside because that was not my intention. As I had hoped I made clear, dealing with situations where people and dogs and livestock come into close contact is a matter for common sense and mutual respect. Clearly I have offended you in some way.

I appreciate that Ficklejade, but no, you have not offended me in any way. 👍
