I spent a good bit of my working life doing accounts and running law firms. I enjoyed the work and particularly the firm which acted for lots of famous people. I always wanted to work with animals and now I do, as a dog trainer. I love doing it but you soon learn you are dealing with the people more than the dogs. How can you not enjoy puppy cuddles every week?
I'm sure that's very true Kiyasmum, I've always said the dogs aren't the problem, it's the owners. My dog's hardly a puppy, he's 14, but he's cuddled up to me now as I type this. I now do home-checks as a volunteer for the rescue centre where we got him, and I'm checking out the people as much as checking the home.

At 11 I wanted to be an archaeologist. Then I went to grammar school and only the top stream did Latin. Someone had told me that I couldn't get onto any archaeology course without it. So, I gave up the idea, but have always had a hankering...
I did both O level and A level archaeology back in the 80s but then studied accountancy at Uni. Now many years later I am taking my son on an Archaeology Fieldschool this summer. Not sure who is looking forward to it most
Part of me wishes I had stuck with history or archaeology instead of going the accountancy route. However at 18 accountancy was, I still think, the best route. I ended up as a lecturer and have loved the vast majority of it. However in the last few years the job has changed. Still too long until retirement unfortunately

I'm glad I did history but... It doesn't pay the bills unless you teach (done that) or have a university post.

I always thought that being a diver on Jacques Cousteau`s boat "Calypso" would be the coolest job in the world.
