Out of the blue, BT sent me one of these Google devices for free.
Trouble is that my internet is so slow that these sort of things don't work well, and anyway, I don't have any way of setting it up.
It's still in its box, but I'm not sure where that is.
We're supposed to be getting fast broadband within the next 200 years, but nobody cares for small villages these days. I'm wondering about one of these 'home hubs' from '3'. Couldn't be any worse than my current 'pigeon post'. However, I still don't have any way of setting up this "Alexa" type thingy.
------------- Two drifters off to see the world.
I'm tired of reality, so I'm off to look for a good fantasy.
I gave up with having broadband in the village last year as 1 Meg download speed just wasn't up to the job. My old ISP said I could get up to 10 Meg & I would have to pay £30+ a month for it which I think in this day & age is a bit of a joke. I went down my mobile phone providers shop to get another sim card as I'd bought another phone & I asked them about home internet which they can provide. The router is basically a mobile phone version of an Alexa which I use as a radio now & then plus as it works on a mobile network I can take it away in the caravan & use it for wifi.
I've tried asking my mobile phone things and it ignores me. I'm starting to get quite a complex about it now, and strange looks from people in the street.

Have you tried putting your phone away and seeing if you still get strange looks?
