I think the CMC now based their reviews on what their directors are earning and no longer what the man in the street is earning.

We have found many commercial sites that are of a high standard at lower rates than many CMC sites and you can negotiate a discount of staying for a week or longer.

I may have 'left the club', but then again, i never used 'club' sites, and only now and then used CS's. Ive been a 'commercial' site man for a long time now.(and as if the 'clubs' dont make money as well!).

I know...let's start a UKCS club. Make it free and have a message board and links to different campsites. No need for brochures. No need to own any campsites but people could organise meets if they want to...sounds a good idea to me.

This has been a good article we only use cl sites the club is only for the gentry not the common man only want your dosh just look at the profit they make each year

I've been with the C&CC for a few years now and I think they seem to be a little bit more down-to-earth than the C&MC, but I could be wrong. I don't always use their sites though, I use whatever is most convenient to where I want to be. I have found some commercial sites to be as good, if not better, and often cheaper too.

Regarding the mag, I haven't seen a C&MC mag in decades, but the C&CC one is ok. Only ok though, not brilliant! The reviews are all way above my budget but they do serve to convince me that in reality little more than styling has changed since my caravan was built way back in 1992. From comments on here I get the impression that if anything there has been something of a deterioration in build quality, despite all the hype.

Having just had another look at Nightstops there’s only one site listed in Scotland, so it’s little use to us. There are other websites listing these non-campsite locations (for MHs) but most charge CS or CL rates or ask for a donation. Might as well stick with sites listed on UKCS.

I use google maps stick on satellite and zoom in on the area I want and look for small campsites given away by vans or pitch marks left behind, street view will usually give the name
