So if a person decides to ignore any travel restrictions or advice given out by the authorities, they will still have insurance cover.
Is that what you are saying , really.

No dimbles, not what I'M saying, but what I copied straight from the company's website. What it says is that if you took out insurance which covered disruption to your holiday and the FCO subsequently advised against travel then you would still be covered. Take it up with them if you're not happy.

We've decided to err on the side of caution and have cancelled our trip to Norfolk for April and May. We had loads planned and I was really looking forward to it but as a lot of our activities were going to include large gatherings of people and the boss was really uncomfortable about the situation we've knocked it on the head.
We're neither of us in a high risk group but Jane has "elderly" ( I'm on thin ice here!) relatives both at home and down in Norfolk so we could see no reason to increase their chances of contracting this due to our unnecessary holiday arrangements.
Lost an appreciable amount of money, various deposits, ticket costs etc. but it's a small price to pay for peace of mind I feel.
On the bright side, apparently there's loads that needs doing at home.
Yippee?

This all makes me glad that we never plan anything very far ahead these days. We don't usually even start to think about holidays until at least Mid April, and even then its only "what area shall we look at this year". Booking up is usually done maybe a couple of weeks ahead, sometimes only a few days. Wouldn't suit all I know, and probably wouldn't have suited us when we were working and had kids at school, but for us its one of the benefits of being retired.

I was going to spend a couple of nights in a B&B with the dog next week in North Devon, to take him to the beach and to attend a work meeting.

The work meeting has now been cancelled and so has the trip.

Still have another B&B trip over Easter with the dog to consider.

Reluctantly, we decided to cancel our trip to Vienna & Bratislava.
Not because we were worried about the bug, but the Austrian and Slovak governments (unlike the UK) have panicked and shut virtually all visitor attractions - even though there were only a small number of cases of the virus.

However, KLM have given us vouchers for the full amount of our tickets, the hotels had free cancellation and even the bus journeys have issued travel vouchers. We've only lost a few Euro and we'll re-book when the fuss is over.

Weather permitting, we'll get the garden sorted out and when the campsites open, we'll be on the road again.

We had asked relatives in Singapore if we could visit in April/May but this is now on hold. Travel insurance including disruption cover are proving difficult to find. Tenerife in August but hoping it's over by then. Will visit more English places when things settle.

I have a sore throat today but no high temperature so have done some gardening. Fresh air is good for you.

Just returned from a few days in Budapest, probably did all the wrong things..Airport, aeroplane, tour bus, bars, restaurants, market, boat cruise etc.
If allowed, we intend to take our van through France to northern Spain on 21st April.
We normally have a quiet break, on quiet sites, a drink or a meal outside in a cafe.
Occasional visit to a supermarket etc, no crowds or busy places.
Generally just enjoying the nice weather.
Through the tunnel, so no contact there.
I am hoping that with care and handwashing etc the risk will be no greater than home.
I will see how things go with travel restrictions.
One of the two cases confirmed in Stockton, is very close to my home.

We hope to go away in the 'van too, usually go in May. Apart from toilet stops in the UK, we use the Tunnel, and also keep to ourselves, apart from food shopping. Happy with a quiet site near the seaside where we can be outdoors on bikes or foot.

All those who've bought gloves as protection please remember that it not the touching of surfaces that's the problem -it's the transfer of what's on those surfaces to your face, and consequently into your respiratory system. People who wear glasses need to be really vigilant-the continual touching and rearranging of your specs is mostly done on a subconscious level-as one who wears them all the time, I know this !!!

If you counted how many times you saw other people touching their faces, you'd realise what an issue it is. Hand washing is the most important thing but not just a quick swill under the cold tap that you often see in campsite washrooms !

Yes I think we all touch our faces a lot more than we realise. I need glasses for reading and close work but not otherwise, so I am constantly taking them on and off. I also have one eye that constantly waters, so I often wipe that without thinking about it as its been like it for years.

In other news, I've just had an email from one of the sites where we cancelled our stay informing me that they're going to carry forward our deposit for future bookings once things have sorted themselves out.
Full marks to York Caravan Park and Storage, some joined up thinking going on there.
