Not a fan, each year I put up less and less. Last year OH bought mini real tree on offer (table top size) with decs already on. I fear he'll bring it in this year. Have put wreath on door so people may think I've decorated.

I’m not putting any up. I’ve just come out of hospital after a 4 month stay and due to mobility issues I’m having to live downstairs in an annex attached to the side of the house which was previously used as a junk room. Unfortunately while having it cleaned out ready for me to use my husband didn’t spot my treasured box of Christmas tree toys and decorations. Over 25 years of precious memories was thrown away in error. I really don’t have the heart to start again, for this year anyway. I’ll see how I feel if I’m still here next year
Miss baritone I’m Really sorry to read about your illness and your time in hospital, the tree can wait this year hopefully next year you’ll start feeling a bit better and your mobility will improve, rebuilding your life is more important once you have done that then you can start on new decorations 👍
Hope you a nice comfortable Christmas
I collect nativity scene's some I have been gifted but most I have bought this year I have 31 I don't put a tree up I have a mischievous kitty whom would be up in the branches in no time as everything is sniffed and batted with a paw
We put our tree up( artificial) and lights on front porch of house the other day. That's it.
We don’t believe in killing a tree. Our last artificial one was around 30 years old! We bought a replacement last year.Old one went to charity shop.

We have quite a big artificial tree which comes apart and lives in the loft. It's still there and we may not bother, didn't last year, we always go away.
We used to go away every other Xmas when we worked. I had 2 weeks as I was an FE lecturer, wife was a nurse so couldn't get leave every year.
Now retired we don't bother, other than visiting family.
We have justvreturned from a 3 week cruise to Spain, the Canaries and Cape Verde
It was great, sunny once we got south! A bit rough on the way down through the Bay of Biscay. Fine on the return but raining on 4th when we docked.

Still undecided whether to bother or not. We don't have any outside lights anyway, and there don't seem to be half as many with lights outside round our way this year. We will be going to our daughters' for Christmas day, and have hired a small community hall on our estate for boxing day for our ever-expanding family! We don't all fit into our little house any more, so all over Christmas there will only be the two of us here. We mainly put them up for the kids, and none will be coming to the house this year.
Five sets of outside lights are now up, a small artificial tree in the porch, another in the living room, pre-lit twiggy thing in the dining area, various bits of tinsel and ornaments around the place - and a bag full of excess ornaments taken to the charity shop, which is good! I still have more than I need, but some things have sentimental value and I do like to change colour schemes from year to year, so keep a varied stock of baubles and tinsel. I find all the colour and brightness helps me get through the long dark nights and short grey days. The neighbours enjoy the outside lights too.
------------- Always edited for sloppy typing - when I spot it!
We always have a real tree, decorated mostly with sentimental items from my childhood (I'm now 68), things the children and grandchildren made at school and decorations that belonged to my parents. We also have some lights in the apple tree outside and lights round the inside front window - nothing up yet though, probably next weekend at the soonest.
Oh dear. I really shouldn't laugh... Bad Dog! My daughter's collie is the same. One year someone bought him a doggy soft toy and he had the guts out of it in short order. The giver was a bit surprised at the rapid evisceration! Still, good entertainment value.

We once had border collie, and there were only two things he was guaranteed to destroy. One was any toy that had a squeaker in it, that just had to come out! The other thing was anything that came through the letterbox. Nothing to do with the postman, he liked him and would go up to him wagging his tail and the postman would make a fuss of him. He didn't seem to associate the postman with the letterbox. I put a cage on the inside to catch the mail, I don't know how but he managed to get that off. I ended up having to put a box on the outside that he couldn't get to.
Real tree every year (farming Christmas trees is an important business in some rural areas, so I feel no guilt). This year, it’s shorter & very fat, other years it’s been tall & skinny - we like the variety (we do have high ceilings). Decorations are reminders of holidays, wee gifts from overnight visitors, some my mum made when I was young, all packed away carefully in January.
A great innovation has been battery powered lights on a 6-hour timer, so I’ve wrapped a string loosely around the wreath that I made myself & it lights up the front door beautifully on dark rainy nights.

Sounds lovely. I must admit I am a fan of Christmas lights (in tasteful moderation, of course!!!).
