No man wandering round any site we're on goes un-noticed. We have 2 mini early warning systems. They will screech "Mummy! There's a naughty man with no top on" very VERY loudly.

If that doesn't get a response they resort to "Mummy, look Mummy. Have you seen the man with no top on?" said even louder!

So for the most part, our camping neighbours think I'm a complete perv. The truth of the matter is that DH's best friend died of skin cancer a couple of years ago. And our boys are absolutely forbidden from running around topless in the sun.

Oh really Rose. I ummed and ahhhed about mentioning toiletries and personal heigene as I anticipated that everyone would take this as read. But really!!! Obviously you need to take a hair dryer. How can anyone relax with one's hair in a mess? Mirror...well of course and it is also of benefit to have one that will hang from the cupboard behind the mirror so that you can see the back of the head whilst you dry the hair.

One cannot relax out in the sun without one's Panama keeping the perfectly coiffured hair in place in the event of a draft.

As for soggy flapping fabric I find that James always provides a change of clothes and is more than happy to go to the laundry room to dry and iron. Don't you have a James?

We don't get haystack hair, soggy flapping fabric and cut offs at Chatsworth. How very dare you

Phil

That's all very well, but I belong to that enlightened breed that absolutely insists on her lady's maid having a whole week off every year, in addition to the half day each month. What, therefore, is the point of taking a hairdryer with no maid to wield it, or a mirror with no maid to hold it?

As for James, he's far too busy grooming the horses (and besides, the only hairstyle he knows is a plaited ponytail).

PS - Phil, do feel free to drop in any time you're passing the Palace

One will have to be getting the horsewhip out...Ones personal manservant neglected to pack a change of clothes for my last camping trip...There was one sat there in grotty 3 day old plus fours and shooting jacket smelling like a breakfast kipper(from sitting round the fire)About to partake of Tiffin under the shocked and amazed looks from fellow campers who had dressed for the occasion (Or at least changed their undies and socks)....

Breeding...And an inbred sense of manners dictates that I draw a veil over the ensuing debacle when took myself off for a visit to the local hostelry as is my wont of an evening....

Luckily...The inn keeper...Stout fellow that he is and his serving wenches are well used to their nostrils being assaulted by the odours of the great unwashed...And I eventually managed to carry off the evening meal with just a hint of embarrassed colour in my cheeks due to a lack of suitable dinner jacket and crystal finger bowl....

One will have to have words on my return to the town house....Standards are indeed slipping "downstairs" and have to be addressed before my next foray onto a campsite...

Jelboy.

Do you know just how long it takes, the older I get, to get handsom in the morning enough to venture out? Without the mirrors, hairdryer, gel, fixer, creams and clothes I just dare not let the world see me too early in the morning. Once the face and hair is sorted then I get into my slacks and shirt, cravat, and I am ready to walk the dog. Then its another hour or so for the little woman to get fit for the day....

Just doing above the shoulders is enough without having to touch up the body if I am to reveal all!

Phil
