I hate 'like'. I was watching a youngster being interviewed on the TV today and every other word was followed by 'like'. "We went, like, here, and then, like we moved on, like, to another place, like"
We were taught that it was discourteous to put ourselves first in speech, it should always be "my wife and I", but these days the norm appears to be "me and the wife".
Did anyone see the young singer in Waitrose? She was on Breakfast (I think it was) earlier, not all that great imo and she used "like" several times in each sentence.
