That was the problem I found last week Tango. I ended up going out much more frequently and visiting several more shops and still couldn't get everything. Not going out at all now and daughter-in law brought us a few bits and pieces yesterday.

Selfish hoarders stripping the shops bare quite unnecessarily make me really angry. I think we need a proper rationing system to be introduced by the government. Should have been done 2 weeks ago though, then we wouldn't have had this problem.

Really? I went for my once-a-day walk this morning and passed our local village Coop with a queue outside. Not a big one admittedly but a group of about 5 or 6 people. Its not a big shop though, if there are 20 people in there you have to keep pushing past each other, so they were making people queue outside. Sensible I thought. Normally at that time of day there would be probably no more than 3 or 4 people in there, but the staff have been saying that loads of people having been coming in from outside the village recently. Don't know what the local towns are like, I haven't been that far since last week.

They could introduce the ration books that were issued during the war,it's surprising how little you need if you are forced to!

We went shopping this morning, and it wasn't bad - quieter than usual. Apart from no flour or yeast, the shelves were being filled and things looked to be getting back to some sort of normality. All the shops had a limit on items and customers were staying well apart from each other. Morrisons was fairly well stocked - especially with fruit and veges and Aldi was very well stocked.

ASDA was the only store that attempted to formalise spacing between customers. Unfortunately the layout didn't give enough room at the tills and this resulted in disorganised and confusing queues round the store. We didn't buy anything there.

Fuel has really dropped at the pumps. £1.02 / ltr for petrol.

Some wit said that the easiest way to ration people is to take away the trolleys, you could then only fill 1 basket.

I went to Lidl late this morning, waited in a queue of about 6 to go in, a security man was marshalling 1 out 1 in. There was loads of fruit and veg there, plus the bakery. I got everything on my list, so didn't check milk, eggs etc. The tin tomato shelf was empty, I think, and the chest freezers were empty, the wall ones had food in.

The people having the greatest difficulty complying with the 2m rule were the people with limited English, the young workmen, and the very elderly.

Yes that's right they could. I found my fuel rationing book from the 1970s yesterday when I was having a clear out. Not sure where that came from as we weren't even living here then! It must have been inside something that hasn't been looked at in decades.

Ration books could be introduced to allow people who are shopping for others to get what they both need.

Yeast seems to be in short supply at the moment! I bought 3 x 500g tins of saf-levure a year ago when there were several offers/suppliers on Amazon, now there's none and I'm down to the last 200g or so. Luckily I have flour, so it might be a good time to start a sourdough culture!

I can understand the government declaring a "semi" lockdown.
I do however worry about people who depend on online shopping deliveries.

I am meant to self isolate for health reasons (which I have been doing for 2-3 weeks)and our last online shopping delivery, we got about half what we ordered.
It was a normal weeks shopping not stockpiling but still could not get the basics as I have mentioned in previous posts.

The soonest we can get another slot is the 13th April but thanks to our family putting themselves at risk, we will not starve. I worry that some people will not be as lucky?

Before self isolating we were having to go around several shops to get basics. We have only used online delivery once before when I was ill. My wife does not drive.
So we now depend on our daughter who gets us the basics that online delivery cannot give us, even she has to go to more than one shop.
