If so, it might mean we are immune - it would be useful to find out.

I don't think that is correct, there have been a tiny handful of people who have had the infection twice but otherwise people do develop immunity. If they didn't antibodies to Covid 19 would not be detectable or able to be extracted from plasma for treatment , which they have. Vaccine testing has also shown that people develop immunity. What is not yet known is how long immunity will last for.

I suppose as you never had a test you'll never know if it was Covid or not. Covid and flu might both be described as a 'viral chest infection'.
Flu symptoms are a fever plus the symptoms that go with that, dry harsh cough, fatigue, aches and pains. Not necessarily cold symptoms with runny nose, sneezing etc.

I live in Oldham which has the highest number of Covid-19 cases in the UK.I have just found out that the ward we live in has the most cases recorded this week in Oldham. I am shocked as there appears to be no reason for this surge in cases unless it has to do with
people coming round from the council offering doorstep testing.This was last week. If this is the case how many more areas,not offered doorstep testing,have people unknowingly carrying the virus with no symptoms. Very worrying.

This is one of the things that concerns me. There are people out there who are infectious but have no symptoms. Some of them may get symptoms within the next 10 days, but others will never develop symptoms. How many people will they infect before they realise that they are infectious, if they ever do?

I've wondered whether this has been with us longer than February. At New Year, a mate had exactly the prolonged cough described as being a symptom. It lasted a week, then he lost it. A month later, i had a fever and the shakes for 2 days, then i lost it. Had either case been a few weeks later, we would have been nailed on for covid testing.

There has to be loads of incidences where people can contract the virus, and be ill in differing increments of seriousness, from not even knowing, to dying, and everything in between.

Funny you should say that. I was ill myself about this time last year and it started with a dry cough and a temperature, then progressed to extreme fatigue. By the end of the month I was just starting to feel better and able to get about a bit, and by the middle of December I feel well enough to go back to volunteering. So that was probably about 6 weeks in all. We hadn't even heard of Covid then! Over the phone my GP had diagnosed a "viral chest infection".
