Thanks for that I tend to just add a bit of salt and pepper and do without dressing altogether. I normally diet to around 1000 cals 5 out of 7 days but tended to go a bit mad at the weekend so I'm thinking that just dieting 2 days may work for me better but keep an eye on other 5 days rather than getting to the weekend and eating all I've craved.

I'm very active running, gym work, cycling etc just want to lose that last 10lb and keep it off.

Hi Fiona,
Yes I am still doing it, although I confess not every single week.
On non fast days I am also eating very carefully. I have cut down on carbs/fat/sugar in general.
But doing the fast days does seem to put you into a different "mind set" about eating and the amounts you eat.
It also seems to train your way of thinking and make you more aware,

I am losing a steady 1lb per week, I m pleased with that as its a healthy rate and more likely to stay off.

The only reason I miss some fast days is because my house has just gone on the market and I'm running round like a mad woman preparing for viewings, but that in itself is probably helping the weight loss !!

Good luck. And do keep us posted on your progress ,., Jane

I am doing it lost 1st in about 6wks I exercise 4-5 times a week with swimming and treadmill ( work as a lifeguard).
I tried watching the calories but found it easier to have two slimfast milkshakes on my diet days and maybe a cereal bar. My days are Monday and Wednesday but if we have things planned I will switch them.
Feel so much better, no more IBS symptoms not feeling bloated anymore and actually look forward to days where I am not eating as much.
Hubby has been working overseas for the last 22mths and suffers with diverticulitis/IBS so have told him that when he is back home we will do this together.

Yes sixkings, I have read about varies health benefits, people are reporting improvement in certain conditions.
There has apparently not been enough research into all of the health benefits, so the jury I suppose is still out.

But your results are great, pleased you are feeling so much better.

Wow Janey that's great how much have you lost now? I bought a couple of recipe books but most of them are based on people skipping lunch and pretty much starving the day away and having 3-400 calorie meals in the evening but although I can skip breakfast I can't do lunch too so I'm looking for recipes or fresh meals around 200-250 cal mark.

1st in 6wks sixkings that's brilliant if I could do half that in 6 wks I would be very happy. At the very most I only have 1st to lose so I think it will be a slower burn for me but I'm looking for the long term change and health benefits not just a diet, so fingers crossed x

Hi Fiona ,
I have lost 5lbs over 9 weeks, I have been on a 7 day holiday abroad and had my sister stay from the US for 2 weeks, when we had ate out a lot at restaurants as we had some family celebrations.

What I found interesting was that even with all the "fine dining" I didn't gain, I just stalled !
So thats encouraging ..
But, no more holidays or eating out for a good while now, so back on track hopefully 1lb per week will do me.
I am eating less and making better choices, my appetite is much smaller now. So all good !!
Good luck to you too x

I'm starting this next week. Any tips to get me started? Fast days together or apart?

Hi campernic,
My fast days are Tuesdays and Thursdays, I don't think I'd want to do 2 consecutive days.
My tip is to drink Bovril if you feel peckish during the day.
If I eat breakfast it seems to kicks start my appetite for the day. So I tend to split my 500 cals between lunch and a big salad for tea.

That's what I did on Tuesday. I had an apple for breakfast and a couple of salads and I managed fine. 2nd fast day tomorrow so fingers crossed it will go just as well. The books I've read have said not to fast on consecutive days

A bump up for the Fast Diet, for everyone who wanted to know about the 5:2 ,,,l
Yes, it does work, but weight loss is slow, which I think is the best way, and you can't go mad on non fast days, just eat within your limits.

500 cals on fast days,, a healthy diet non fast days.. Plus some goodies are allowed, without feeling guilty..

May i add something that may help your cravings if you have them ?

Someone mentioned slimfast shakes in the thread. Now ive taken a look at the ingredients and you can get a bettr product that is really filling but also has a lot more weight loss potential in the ingredients.

Try this my protein shake.

It is really nice in the strawberry and does fill you up.Basically it contains less calories than the slimfast and more protein but also it contains oats and whole psyllium husks. They swell in the your stomach giving a feeling of being full up.

A nutritionist recommended it to me because i get hungry at odd times due to my ever changing shift patterns. This product solved the problem instantly and is my snack if im hungry.Only 200 calories and plenty of other good stuff to help with weight loss built in to the product like green tea extract.

If you order some you can use this discount code of

MP554238 for a discount at checkout.

Once you have ordered with myprotein look out for the various marketing emails they send as they do really good limited time discounts where you get good savings.I only buy when stuff is on offer now.

3kgs lasts me several months and thats with the wife pinching it too.

Some mornings in a rush ive had this for breakfast and felt full up on it alone.

Dont worry about the fact it is a protein shake you wont start building up muscles everywhere unless you are seriously hitting the gym and consuming lots of it.

Read the reviews,mostly very good.

Worth buying one of their £2 shakers to mix it in too.

I've been doing 4:3 and have now lost 15lbs in about six weeks, this is the only eating plan I have ever stuck with and the results are happening. I tried it before but bailed out, this time I'm sticking to it a day at a time.......
