We've never used home delivery. We have 4 stores (5 incl the small Co-op) close to one another but only two offer home delivery. We know who has the best prices and brands for the products that we buy. It means a 30 mile round trip, but this is what you get when you live in a small remote village.

We shop every fortnight starting at Home Bargains and ending up in Tesco. The bulk of the shopping in in Lidl and ASDA has the cheapest petrol so we tank up there. Unfortunately Morrisons, Sainsbury's and ALDI are further away, so we only shop there monthly.

We observe the usual precautions when shopping, and so far it hasn't been a problem. Lidl & Tesco are just across the road from the beach. I wonder is it's OK to combine shopping with exercise and have a stroll on the beach after shopping?

My son works at Costco in Oldham as a fork lift driver. Because of all the Covidiots who were hoarding and bulk buying meat/fish etc., the buyers at head office have over-stocked and space is running out, therefore the meat is being sold off at real knock-down prices at all Costco stores. Usually about £5.00 off a pack of chicken legs and breasts, stewing steak, mince, pork loins and salmon fillets.
Anyone who shops at Costco will know what good quality their food is, so get down there and fill yer boots!

I'm in total lockdown due to age, existing medical conditions and immunosuppressive drugs, my husband due to age and existing medical conditions. Not been out of the house for 2 weeks now.

We can't get a delivery from any of the 6 local supermarkets for love or money, nor even register on some of those we don't usually use. Starve or put yourself in danger and more strain on the NHS?

Fortunately friends are helping out where they can but they are constrained on the number of goods they can purchase at one time and we don't want to put them in danger by going to the shops more regularly than they need. Not impressed by the lack of planning/organisation for this.

Chrisandsandra, aren't there any local community groups who could step in and lend a hand? Do you have a local Facebook page where they might flag up what they could do? Some places seem to have got that well up and running. Some local farm shops where my friend lives are offering home delivery of food. Good luck - hope you find what you need.

Thank you. Yes, we have a very active local group but they are not yet geared up to do bigger shopping deliveries due to trying to get vehicles, ID etc for their volunteers so that they don't get stopped or challenged for multiple visits to the shops though they're working on it. They can get bits and pieces and medicine etc for you only atm. Local butcher, farm shop currently open but not delivering atm. Bakery has shut down due to lack of staff. Hoping it will improve next week.

Re my last post, my son filled his freezer with meat & chicken, finishing off with the top drawer, closed the door and went into the room. Five minutes later his wife went into the kitchen, and there was the dog, a big GSD, with a pack of mince in his jaws, but still unopened.
The bloody hound had opened the freezer door, opened the middle drawer, and pulled - nay - selected the pack of mince and stood there with a "cow-eyed" look on his face as if to say, "It wasn't me!"
That was his meal sorted.
