OMG

Why do others have to be negative to others I only asked how people had gone on since their last posts. One of the reasons alot of folk put on weight is due to life circumstances and negativity in the first place. I thought the whole point of this tread in the first place was to give others encouragement and support.

I was giving folk encouragement, I thought this thread was about helping people to lose weight by relating our personal experiences? If you think I was being flippant, I wasn't. I really did lose 3 stone by stopping eating cheese. I identified the source of my excess fat intake & addressed it.

I was hoping that would help people, maybe it has?

Bang on the money with that post.

Ok so is anyone going to answer my earlier question, what happens when you have lost the weight you wanted.

What do you do then ?

Do you carry on with the same eating habits ie losing weight or do you go back to the old habits ?

I may be able to answer this question, Since March 2012 I lost nearly seven stone and have reached a normal weight, normal BMI, cholesterol & BP so figure that's it for dieting, now I am maintaining it and have done since March this year (lost 6 in previous year).

I eat what I did when losing weight but allow myself treat days, usually one or at the most two a week. These days I don't necessarily pig out but maybe go out for a meal, have some wine and snacks in the evening but next day I am back to normal and that includes drinking over 2 litres of water a day.

It's really just a lifestyle change, I don't think I'd disappear if I continued to diet lol. The worst you could ever do is go back to they way of eating previously as I'd imagine all the weight would go back on! I enjoy being away in the caravan because that's the only place I eat biscuits for instance, little rules like that keep me on track.

I didn't exercise at all (due to disability) so it can be done There is a quote that keeps me on track, 'nothing tastes as good as being slim feels' and it's pretty true!

Good luck with all the chosen diets and keep up the good work.

Wendy

We went out today and bought some lovely cheeses and some salami to have over the Christmas. I know I will really enjoy these cheeses and the salami with a glass or three of red wine, with my feet up in front of the telly. Not good though, because I have a weight 'issue' as well as a cholesterol problem. I guess I will most certainly have to go on a diet and exercise regime come the New Year ....

We bought some lovely cheeses as well yesterday so that's the diet gone out of the window over Christmas.

Yes, annoyingly, the greater the deliciousness of the cheese, the greater the fat content....

I think part of the point of the 5/2 diet is to give the body a bit of a rest from the rich variety of things with which it usually has to deal. It's said there might be beneficial results in extending life expectancy slightly too. It might also act as away of starting to break bad snacking habits, if you have a complete change of routine.

I haven't plucked up the courage to try it yet, but a couple of friends have, and they find it helps with their general wellbeing. Goodness knows I need to have a go. A combination of genetics (all the women on my maternal side were rather solid, looking at old photos) and comfort eating have left me carting around several stone more than I should, which I need to shed before my joints give out!

Maybe that's a New Year resolution that I might actually keep, for a change. Good luck to all that attempt it.

The benefits of the 5/2 diet are rather difficult to comprehend until you try it yourself.
For instance, one would expect to gorge food the day after you have fasted, but this is not the case. Quite the opposite in fact.
Although you certainly lose weight on fasting twice a week, other health issues improve automatically. Blood Pressure, Cholesterol, General Well Being, Memory, the list goes on and on.

However, do not kid yourself, getting into the 5/2 diet is hard, in the beginning, but the beauty of it is that it is in no way a rigid diet. For instance at this time of year, if you normally fast on Wed and Sat, change it to Mon and Fri.
Try to keep you Fast Days to those days where you are just pottering about and not going into town Christmas Shopping or any other stressful situations.

Like everything else in our lives today, Common Sense should be the ruling factor.

Meanwhile have a Very Merry Christmas and I hope to see less of you next year!!!!!
