Love the idea but the two/three years drying process puts me off.

Dry in pairs of leaves over a string in the greenhouse as soon as harvested. Dried in weeks then put into a homemade frame between 2 inner blocks of ply and compress with g cramps. Ready for shaving into thin strips in a couple of months by use of a straight edge and craft or sharp kitchen knife. Can be rubbed as needed and rolled or put in a pipe depending on variety grown. I am smoking about 6 months after harvest ancestors the first harvest is done you will have enough to last until next year's harvest is pressed and ready for smoking. Worth trying, good luck
