I'm not the slightest bit interested in the Olympics, neither am I interested in royal grovelling for the Jubilee. I'm sick of all the constant corporate milking which goes on for anything like this. It's not just Christmas now, it's Easter, May bank holiday, and now the Jubilee, and soon the Olympics. All "reasons" for us to get our wallets out and make sure we've got everything we "need" to celebrate.
I'm fed up with being told by Tesco and the like when and how I should be enjoying myself and spending my money. I've got myself some beer in for the weekend (only because it's the weekend) and now my wallet is remaining closed and in my pocket.
Fair enough if people are interested in sport, let them enjoy it. But I am not interested, and I wonder how many people gathered to watch a flaming stick being carried actually are interested in sport, or how many are just watching because "everyone else" is watching. I was thinking, maybe I should tie a rag round the end of a big stick, soak it in paraffin and light it. I wonder how many people will turn out to cheer if I run down the street with it? Oh yes, silly me it's not an Olympic(tm) torch.

I'm sitting on the fence on this one.
I'm not the slightest bit interested in olympic sports (other than winter ones)and I am no royalist.
However, we had a small street party last year for the Royal Wedding and had a brilliant time with friends and neighbours, so we decided to arrange another for the Jubilee.
Last year only about 15 people turned up...but this time over 70 people are coming (we've collected £10 per family (over £200) to cover a few snacks/soft drinks/decorations/goodie bags for the kiddies etc). There have been almost a dozen families involved in organizing and we've had a lot of fun & laughter already.
The forecast is rotten, but we will have a good time no matter what the weather throws at us (we have lots of parasols with bases, gazebos, a couple of tents on front lawns etc).
For us, it's not about celebrating the Jubilee so much as spending time with friends and neighbours, many of whom we only wave or smile to in passing.
Hopefully the kids will remember the day with fondness, just like the older folk of today remember the Coronation parties.
I for one am really looking forward to it.
Don't much care about the Olympics as I will be in France , but seeings as we can't change anything, I think people should just relax about it all, get together with friends, relatives and neighbours and enjoy it. The alternative is to stay at home and make yourself (and others around you) miserable.
