Reluctantly giving up caravanning due to moving house and no room for van on drive.  Storage is very hard to find close by and also expensive.  Have enjoyed reading this forum and following the happy and some, unfortunately, very sad stories.Thanks to all who have given me help and advice over the past four years.  I wish you all happy camping and lots of sunshine.

You cna always come back to caravanning in the future. 

Some folding campers can be turned on their side to fit through side gates/doors etc.

Thanks for your good wishes.  We are only moving around the corner and the new neighbours knew we had a van and went out of their way to stop us and say that they didn't want to look at the side of a caravan.  Not the best start to the day!  I can see their point as the drive will only take a car length comfortably.  Have been in two minds since we let it go as to doing the right thing but less hassle this way.  Been looking at package holidays in Europe, to try to catch sight of that big round yellow ball, but it is sooo expensive.  Fuel might have gone up and sites may be charging more but it is still the cheapest way to holiday so have good ones all of you.  I will still be looking at the forum to see what is going on

PS  we feel we are a bit to decrepid to camp, once on my knees it takes an army to get me back up on my feet!

I know nothing about your circumstances other than as you describe, is a folding camper an option? Your neighbours wouldn't have to 'stare at the side' of that (I feel like marching round and telling them to get a flipping life/bopping them on the nose though!).

It seems a terrible shame to have to give up something you have loved for these reasons to me. I hope you have wonderful holidays whatever form they make take in future

We are downsizing to a small bungalow and there is no way a "folder" will go down the side.  We have had fun in caravanning and just think of it now as a another good experience to remember.
