I think my manager hates me the week before we go camping..... I go off into lala land... nothing matters because when I get home I have boxes to check, packing to do etc....I spend all day thinking about my tent, mentally pegging it out in my head! I can't possibly focus on work with all the camping loveliness going on!!!

I have a 2-week camping trip coming up during the Olympics in Scotland.

The last time I took 2 weeks off was in 2001.

The days running up to any holidays, even if it is just a long weekend, were always stressful, and I doubt it will be different this time.

Work is always stressful. That is why we go camping; to sit, to chill, to drink beer and wine, to chat the hours away and relax. Only three weeks to wait for our next trip in the new Outwell Vermont XLP. Can't bloomin' wait :-)

I find the last week at work before going away really stressful. There's always so much to sort out before I go that I think I work twice as hard then as any other week.

For the first day or two, I always fret about something I might have forgotten to do and have been known to text our admin bod and get them to check. I have a vague underlying worry about a client or two going into crisis while I'm away, too. After a couple of days I start to relax properly and stop fretting, then it seems like no time at all before I get back to work and and have all the hassle of sorting out all the problems that cropped up while I was away.

I actually think that people should be paid more when on holiday in some jobs. It involves more work to go away than to just stay there and do it!

Hope it isn't as bad as you're expecting diana20. I get exactly the same as you, thinking of all the packing etc that needs to be done. We've got 3 weeks to wait and I've started drifting already.

Work is stressful and think that's why we love camping so much - get away from everything and take life at your own pace and get that much needed quality family time.

Have a great trip
