Was really looking forward to long weekend away camping in tent with hubs & two young daughters this weekend but heavy thunderstorms means that we probably won't be going now. Very disappointed. Would you cancel or risk going?

I'd go, nothing worse than cancelling and the weather turns out nicer than expected, if it does turn bad, pack up and go home, always say better to regret something you've done, than regret something you havnt.

Def go! in 2009 we cancelled 4 trips, each time the weather was better tha expected.

Someone has said the its more about the right clothes that the right weather

Go for it, and make the most of the dry spells - that's what we always do.
I would be gutted if I cancelled because the forecast was bad and it turned out to be nice.

Just go, I've only had to leave once because of weather, terminal awning failure when LOTS of unexpected snow fell in the middle of the night, 3 kids, no awning, loads of stuff in the awning with no where to put it.

We went to Abersoch a couple of weeks ago for a week. The weather countrywide had been dire - floods etc and the forecast for the Abersoch area was dismal. We arrived (after driving throught rain, rain and more rain) to a pleasant afternoon. within 2 hours we were on the beach with blue sky and sea. Other than an hour of rain the sun shone hot and bright for the majority of the next 5 days. Every day rain was forecast!

Thanks everyone, well the cars packed and we're off to Birchwood Farm, near Matlock. So fingers crossed the weather stays fine. So when we get back i'll let you know how it was and i'll leave two reviews, one of the campsite and of the tent we bought to replace/downsize from Vango 900.
