Because of the way tones in your natural colour can affect the outcome, I'd have it done professionally once and take a note of the numbers of the colours used. Then go to a hairdressing wholesaler and buy the same stuff, plus a highlighting cap, and do your own.
I did this for years and saved myself a fortune. Then the colour was discontinued and it took me years to find another one that was just right, so I go to the salon now.
Mine costs £52.50 including cut and blow dry, products, drinks etc. When my hairdresser was on maternity leave, I went to a different salon nearby and got charged £115! There's a huge variation in charges imo.

Ditto. My hair is my only indulgence<img align="absmiddle" src="forum_images/smiley1.gif" width="17" alt="17">. I've worked all my life, I don't drink, don't smoke, I never go shopping because I hate it and we haven't been abroad for about 10 years!
It's my one indulgence too, I've quit cigs, I don't drink, I only shop when I really have to.
I don't smoke, I don't go shopping as hate it, I do drink but only very occasionally, haven't been abroad since 2006. I just can't afford £90 haircuts especially with a 14 year old who has her hair dyed now, I have just sacrificed having my hair done so she can have hers done, grrr you should see my roots But as my hairdresser seems to be doing the same thing as a £90 cut I wouldn't pay the higher price anyway. However everyone sees things differently so if your prepared to pay it then that's great!
