I take Nexium and one weekend like you, I forgot my meds and bought Zantac and Gaviscon Plus over the counter and just took double dose of Zantac and the Gaviscon after each meal and it worked ok for the weekend.

Zantac here are 75mg but in Spain they sell them over the counter up to 300mg. I usually buy the 150 mg when I'm there and stock up

Yeah I have found that with quite a few medications in Spain, meds that are prescription here are sold over the counter..

Not like me as I know how I suffer but didn't bring enough. I have a couple of days to go with no Lozanprazole. Experience tells me that within 3 hours of not taking one at scheduled time I will have heartburn which will get progressively worse making me sick and choke later on. It is prescribed so cant buy over the counter. Can anyone offer a good over-the-counter alternative to see me through. Not Gaviscon, doesnt work for me. Thanks

hi there i did same thing last year and i went to a chemist and they looked up my records and after consulting with my doc gave me a couple of tablets to keep me going.

Gosh thats good - Im on these too.  I don't suffer quite like you but have had really bad heartburn/acid reflux for about 18mths it took so long to diagnose that I had inflammation its taking a while to clear up.  I've got to go back to do docs because I was so worried about our holiday and running out and suffering I stupidly started reducing my dose and saving some up!!! Now its starting to return - but these really do work and kick in very quickly too!  I must be getting a bit better though as initially when I had it bad the over the counter Zantac didn't touch it but it is working at the moment on the max dosage.

Meant to say, no charge for the emergency supply but I would have gladly paid. Would have had a miserable end to my week without them, and no alcool and no spicy tasty food!

I'm on daily medication. When we went away I forgot to take a full box from the cupboard & ran out on holiday. When I realised the mistake we rang the local surgery & after confirming my medication they provided a repeat prescription or me with no problem.

I have moved onto the extreme pain at my solar plexus speading across my chest, it wakes me in the wee small hours.I started on Zantac around 30 years ago and progressed to Nexium..

Apparently my niece who is a staff nurse says they get a lot of people at A+E with this pain thinking its a heart attack, I can under stand why.

What is really weird is the pain also spreads to my jaw?
Its woke me up last three nights in a row and I take another Nexium and a couple of table spoonfulls of Gaviscon+ and co-codamol, which I take before going to bed as prescribed.
I've put a screwdriver through my hand, fell off roofs and broke bones, had several ops but this pain takes the biscuit.

I've bought Omeprazole over the counter when I've gone away without my Lansoprazole, but it's an expensive way of doing it, especially as I don't have to pay for my prescriptions as I have an under-active thyroid.

I've been doubly daft now, am away for the weekend and remembered all my meds EXCEPT for the antibiotics I was prescribed on Monday for a chest infection. May have to see if I can find a surgery open tomorrow to get some more prescribed.

Have you ever had a heart check Vango Man? The reason is that angina pain can be felt in the jaw.

To be honest I've always played it down at doctors as so much else going on with my copd, lung capacity down to 33% when last seen specialist.Getting scan in just over a week as last one showed abnormality in right lung.

Once I get this sorted out I will mention it to him, you know what they are like..if you mention more than one problem. I did mention it last week and he more or less said take max dose of your meds and see what happens..
I am just self medicating at present and it is easing off .
