We are 'supposed' to be going camping this weekend at the Northern Motorcaravan Show, and On Wednesday the clutch went on my car...........grrr now we are very fortunate to have 2 cars, so no problem ? ....Wrong! On Thursday my husbands car packed in !.....double grrrrr so my daughter very kindly offered us the use of her car , and since then it's never stopped raining... Do you think someone is trying to tell us something ? I expected it to be dull but the weather here hasn't been too bad this week. My head is saying 'I won't be beaten' carry on regardless but it's really chucking it down now, and as we can only go at teatime when OH gets home from work, I can't help wondering if it's worth all the effort for 2 days I am sooo fed up, not just with the weather but the cost of getting mobile again.

We've been rained off for at least 4 shows this year, elvaston being one and we were meant to be showing this weekend at stourport, but again rain's stopped play so we're going to ashbourne instead in the rain or we'll never get out this year, its not going to stop us, just go for it,

we had planned to go the northern show, a grand day out tomorrow,

can't do the camping at the mo, as we've not long moved house and its in need of loads of tlc, so we've done shreswbury and cheated with a hotel room and we were going to knutsfod but theres a little motorhome sitting in a dealers close to us that we can only see tomorrow.

im ummming and ahhhhing like an old woman, what shall we do

stay at home, get some work done, see the motorhome, get some furniture sorted

or disappear to knutsford,

suppose we could go sunday if we get stuff done and the weather improves

decisions, decisions i need someone to make them for me, lol

Dont give in!

I have NEVER been beaten by a bit of rain. Treat the problems as a test of how much you want to go. When you get there and put the tent up, everything will feel better. You will be able to relax and enjoy a well deserved break.

Well, at least I hope so

Go, go, go. You need something to take your mind of the cost of car repairs.

OH WOE IS ME !! Well we refused to be beaten (at first!
) We ignored the rain and set off in my daughters car which turned out to be the greatest Tardis and carried all our gear, We sat for an our on the motorway in a traffic jam caused by....you guessed it..The weather, road spray was awful !! We arrived at our destination and was met my MUD,MUD, and yet more MUD....yes there were plenty of hardy souls already set up in their motorhomes and caravans, but we couldn't see a single tent ! We sat for a little while watching the tractor pulling cars and vans into position.....then bottled it !! we turned around and came home on arrival home we sadley unloaded the gear, then cooked our scrummy home made kebabs in the griddle pan in our cosy dry kitchen washed down with a very large well deserved Brandy ( I have loaded, unloaded, reloaded and unloaded again all our camping equipment over the last 2 days due to car problems so we settled dowm watched a film, and will snuggle up in our lovely warm, dry bed tonight.....I'm sorry we failed.

No way did you fail, you went after all the probs..ok you then came home..but if you had stayed it could have been really awful, and then you would have been even more annoyed at yourselves after all your warnings!.....we have just got back from a week in Warwick, the last week leading up to it I found myself getting more and more depressed about going(we are talking about a holiday here so why should I be feeling depressed about it?) it was ok,yes loads of rain, really pretty campsite and village, very lonely though as we were the only ones there, dosent usually affect me...ok to tell the truth I usually love having the site to ourselves...went for an expensive meal for our 25th wedding anniversary, nice meal but not very celebratory, very busy and didnt seem to notice us sat in the corner, back to wet tent, packed up in the wet, took us 2 1/2 hours to do 35 miles on M1 coming home, brake pads disintegrated, not very sure there will be a 26th wedding anniversary lol!

Sometimes I think go with the gut feeling,if things are conspiring to keep you at home...just stay there have a good hol anyway and there is always another year when there might even be some sun!!!!

I think you did the right thing. Nothing worse than going through with something you're not enjoying just to prove a point!

We're potentially going to have the same dilemma when we go camping next month if the weather continues to be so bad :-( if we cancel this one it means we won;t have camped at all this year.

Thank you for replies......i kept saying 'the only consolation is it's affecting everyone ( the weather I mean) but that sounds selfish. sometimes you feel it's only you being hard done by.....and lets face it things could be a LOT worse, some poor souls have lost a lot more than a weekend away this summer....so...onwards and upwards, we are now planning our next camping weekend........Bring it on !!!!

Really hope you have more luck on the next one...and its not selfish, its human nature,I found myself moaning to the campsite  owner about the weather but then felt really rather bad about it ..got a good feeling about August/September..Indian summer maybe!!!
