I need to replace my director's chair, DS' friend having broken it (and finding one with a table, depression for bottle/glass and one with pockets for phone, specs, etc. isn't easy). Found two possibles and compared prices and delivery charges. Prices were much of a muchness but how come carrier delivery can vary between free, £5.40 and £19.95 for the same item? Some of these carriers must be coining it in! OK, realise if a big firm does a lot of business with a carrier then they may get preferential rates over a smaller firm with less usage, but surely that's not the whole story? As an aside, last year I caught one firm charging delivery charges and sending much cheaper by Royal Mail - it was only a small item but needed it and this firm was the only one I could get it from. Needless to say, they have been forced to change their tactics and I had all costs refunded.
