Sadly there are some sites that are now just taking the mickey - you do have to shop around.
I know the site that we are visiting later this year charges £4 per night for EHU - now whilst I appreciate cost of installing/maintaining and that some campers will be all electric - I refuse to pay that just to charge my phone up and run a small cool box.   I can charge the phones etc via the car, and it will be cheaper to go and buy some ice at a supermarket every other day.

I would like to ask,why do they charge something like £2 for a dog ? lets face it.they dont use the shower block or maybe people with dogs should take their dogs in for a wash...

I will not pay for the dogs. I think it's ludicrous unless they provide special dog facilities.

I only pay £8 a night for mine to go into kennels and for that they get fed, looked after and a long walk in the woods every day.

I live in the West Contry and a lot of business people are moaning what a wash out June was, due to the wet weather, trade down, no tourist, yet, as soon as the schools break up, they jack up their price fee's, surely it would be better for all concerned if they kept their prices to the minimun in order to recoup their losses and encouage much needed trade back again, after all, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.Happy hols everyone.

With you on that one. Surely it's better to charge a bit less and have a full capacity rather than hold out for high prices and have the place half empty.

C&CC sites are very good. You don't pay extra for dogs or awnings, just a charge per person and a charge per night extra for EHU. And an age-related discount for over 55's.

I still wish there was a sliding scale for EHU charges though - or metered supplies. With my diddy caravan I can't see that I use anywhere near what I pay for EHU - 1x light, 1xfridge, 1xtravel kettle. Yet I know I am subsidising others who have all-singing and dancing units as what they do is divide their elecricity bill for 12 months into daily charges.

I know someone who stayed on a metered site, and they rarely, even with a large MH, used more than £1 a night.
