I am very particular about how I make my tea, teabag in mug, hot water, brew, teabag out, THEN sugar, then milk. Can't stand it when people put sugar or milk in with the teabag, just seems odd.
I was once told that adding milk before the water somewhat blocks the pores of the teabag, preventing the water from properly infusing with the tea. I don't know if it is true, but I've never has as strong a brew from anyone who adds the milk before the water. Even tried it myself, couldn't make a decent cuppa that way.

The water is no longer boiling if you use milk first, so the tea does not seem to infuse properly. So always add milk afterwards when you have got the tea as you want it. Mind I think loose leaf is better than tea bags get a better cuppa.

top tips for tip top brews.....
(from a coffee drinker)
ALWAYS use a tea pot wherever possible, you get 2 good cuppas out of one tea bag so if you are some weird freaky tea addict or just dont like waste, pay attention to this.
pretty much any BRAND NAMED tea will taste good if made properly. TyPhoo PGTips Tetley YorkshireTea, you know the ones, none of this MyMuMs NoFrills Asda TescoValue own brand rubbish, throw it out, the only thing they are good for is a compost bin. you are kidding yourself if you think you are saving money by buying the own no name brand filth on the shelves in supermarkets, you are wasting your money and on top of that drinking nasty tasting dirty water.
OK, for 1 or 2 cups of tea, take 1 tea bag - a proper tea bag (see above) - place into a teapot, add boiling water (enough for 2 cups of tea), give this a good stir and also give the teabag a squeeze against the side of the pot before stirring again, now allow to stand for a couple of minutes. add the desired sugar/sweetener to your cup, now pour in the tea, add a splash of milk or lemon, whatever floats your boat, sit back and enjoy.
so easy and perfect every time, its the technique that does it, the water comes into it, but the technique and the cheeky squeeze will overcome any hard or soft tasted water, just make sure you didnt get the crappy teabags and you are laughing, hahahahahahaha.
