I have a caravan and several tents so I am a member of both the CC and the C&CC.
I like to stay on the smaller CS/CL sites and I also enjoy attending the Club's rallies/meets which give you access to some fun, cheaping camping/caravanning with like-minded people.
This year I am finding I am using my CC membership much more than my C&CC membership. I haven't stayed on a C&CC site/CS/rally at all this year but have attended several CC rallies.
If you can afford it, maybe join both Clubs and then see which one suits your needs/camping style the best.
As already mentioned, it isn't essential to join either of the Clubs as there are plenty of wonderful independent sites out there. However, the added bonus of access to CS/CL sites, THS (temporary holiday sites), discounted insurance/breakdown cover, rallies/meets, family/over 55s discounts etc... can be beneficial to some campers/caravanners.
