I watched the highlights of the women's double skull in the early hours. What a finish for the two GB girls, well over a boat length in front and they really put everything they had into it at the end. An absolutely faultless performance and they truly deserved their Gold medals. Great Britain are certainly doing well.....keep up the good spirit!
One gripe I have is the negative comments of some of the commentators. Seems like some of them are hinting at nothing less than a gold will do. Come on!!! We have done so much better than a lot of people expected. We should be proud of our sportsmen and women just for the fact that they were selected to take part in the Olympics, winning any medal is a bonus.

According to one famous rower, these two went over the top in their race.....can't remember the quote exactly but it was along the lines of 'they over produced' or some such poop.....they had an amazing race and worked bl**dy hard to get there and they did it the way they wanted to.....who has the right to judge them other than themselves??? There's no pleasing some people!!!!!
Yay for Andy! It was beginning to feel like 'always the bridesmaid, never the bride, as he'd almost won so much - but a gold medal? Job's a good 'un. And I agree - some of the commentators, and the people they ask for comments, you could slap. They are all working very hard keeping up with everything, so they're bound to start to blether at some point, but it can be annoying.
------------- Always edited for sloppy typing - when I spot it!
I have just found out who Andy beat to gain the Gold, ROGER federar, who has never won at the Olympics.
Is that a sweet victory?

I agree, the difference being that he was what is considered a 'man' when he made his stupid comments.
Now I know women will argue (state) that us men never actually grow up, BUT he is an international sports celeb and he should guard his gob before spouting off about his anti English views...England IS after all part of GB and its GB's team that he was representing in the Olympics.

Every day is a gift..That's why it's called the present.
"The journalist said to me 'So Andy are you going to be supporting Scotland in the World Cup?', knowing that Scotland hadn't qualified and he started laughing. So he asked me who I would be supporting in the World Cup, and I said 'Anyone but England ha-ha' and all of a sudden it's the biggest story ever. I learnt a lot from it, as I realised the guys from the press are not your friends, and you can't joke with them about stuff like that."
Heartiest congratulations to the best tennis player the UK has ever produced.
Aykay, your piece above has been confirmed by Tim Henman who was there when the statement was made and who totally supported Andy after that interview during which a lot of jesting between ALL INVOLVED went on. This can easily be googled for those interested in a balanced view. It is a totally different statement when taken in its true context, which of course wasnt filmed or written about in its entirety. The whole interview wouldnt have sold newspapers or whipped up a storm!
Anyway, my congratulations go to all the British Olympians. Proud of them all.
