It's a film about the life and antics of an unruly labrador puppy for those who haven't seen it. I watched it last night. It's a lovely and funny film however by the end of it I was sobbing my heart out!   I don't think it helps that my Rottie has got quite an old dog now and has trouble with his legs and his time probably isn't that far away.

If you love dogs then I highly recommend you see this, but be warned you will need tissues at the end.

Anyone else want to confess to being reduced to a blubbering wreck by this film?

Don't start me off, I've watched it twice, and even though the second time I knew what was happening, I still bawled my eyes out, great film though :)

Great film, and book, and we're not even dog owners, or dog lovers particularly.

We had the audiobook, narrated by the man himself, and I remember having to pull over at the ending.

The book was published by our daughter when she was a SVP at Harper Collins in New York City. John Grogan was kind enough to give her a credit in the original book.

Husband and I watched this film and it left us cold. We both looked at each other at end and said why on earth had we continued to watch it. We are probably the only people in the world who did not like it but it is just our personal taste. I found it totally contrived and the director seemed to be concentrating so hard on milking every second of cliched sadness that any emotion was killed outright and it went right over our heads.

I actually thought it was the worst film I had ever seen.

By the way I love dogs.

Hi

Prince is eight years old now. He's a marvellous dog; loves cats (except the one ours fights with) and is lovely with children. The most dangerous animal in our house is that cat! He is also a Berkshire boy, born in Thatcham.

If you enjoyed, if that's the right phrase, Marley n me have a look at
Hachi A dogs tale with Richard Gere. A film based on the true story of a dogs devotion to its owner in Japan in the 1920s/30s.

Mia's also 8 but she was from Oxfordshire. She's got leg problems like yours but we manage she just gets tired after a long walk.

You're not alone - I didn't think much of the book either and, frankly, didn't believe it.

I read the book and was frankly disgusted at the way they went away from home when they knew this dog they apparently loved SOOOOO much was obviously not long for the world. Sorry if I ruined the story for anyone there 17 !

My much loved dog was VERY ill and obviously about to leave us just over a year ago and theres no way on earth I would have ever left him for anything.

I was left with the feeling that the only reason they "loved" Marley was the money he has brought in for them through the book, film etc.

I know, cynical of me but I can assure you I'm not heartless, it doesnt take much to make me blub either.
