You must visit the Grand Palace, it is amazing.

Traffic is a nightmare, so if you are planning anything make sure you take into account the traffic.

Barge trips along the river are an experience, you will see some majestic temples but also see how the poorer people live along the way, there is even a floating market.

We also did an excursion to the Bridge over the river Kwai, and along the "death" railway.

Hotels are of a very high standard, we had a 3 star hotel and I would have rated it 4/5 star here.  Where are you staying?

Amazing city & country, very friendly people and we felt safe.  Just keep your wits about you.

Ali’s advice is good. There are plenty of cash machines over there, just be as wary as you would be over here with using them i.e. look out for dodgy people hanging around nearby and any devices attached to the machines.

As a tourist in Bangkok you will get a lot of attention from people trying to offer you their services as a taxi or guide for the day. Also once in a taxi or tuk-tuk they will try to take you to places to buy suits or jewellery. They get petrol vouchers for taking you. Just be firm with them and say no! You can barter people down, they will try their luck on you! As a man you will also get a lot of attention from pimps, again be firm and if that things does take your interest remember to be very very careful!

if you are going purely to Bangkok then you will not need malaria tablets, its up in the north of the country and visiting the border areas of neighbouring countries when malaria becomes a risk. Make an appointment with your practice nurse to discuss the trip and any injections you will need (diptheria, tetanus and polio need to be utd as well as hep A).
