Well, I stayed up to the end of the match. At the end of set 2 I poured gin & tonic thinking it would be over by the time I had finished the glass. At the end of set 3 I needed to deal with nervous energy, so I made toast and honey. At the end of set 4 I decided that coffee was essential because I was tired even if the players weren't. I was there to celebrate Andy Murray winning and my dog is still confused as to why we didn't go to bed at the usual time.
Now all I need to do is get through the day without dozing off somewhere.
I'm thrilled to bits for him! I didn't watch it, but am so glad he's finally won a major and hope it will give him the confidence to go on and win many more.
I don't have a sporting bone in my body so I find the physical and mental discipline on display astonishing. Now that he's crossed a big mental rubicon I think he will go on to be world number one in the not too distant future - he certainly has the physical capability and range of strokes, I really do think it's the gremlin on his shoulder that has been holding him back.
