Trailer sold at buy now price. Spoke to guy on phone to arrange pick-up. No quibbles.
Just before that one of the bidders from last week contacted to come and view and it had been arranged for tonight. Ah well, such is life.
Lol should have placed a bid instead of hesitating.
Quite often stuff will sell at a higher price but not at a lower price, people are wary if its too cheap.
I go on the premise of if it seems too good to be true don't trust it! Totally different from an actual bargain. Usually there is a going rate for something and I would look for a bargain a bit below the going rate but wouldnt touch it if it was ridiculously cheap for what it is. Unless I can get proof that all is kosher! When I was looking for a caravan most 2001's were going for 3-4k. A 2006 suddenly came up for an asking price of 3.5 k. Might have been a bargain for someone but I didnt even consider it.
I asked a seller once if they had a BIN on a trailer. He said No, which was fair enough. I would have put a bid on but the auction finished just after we were going away and I knew they wouldn't want to wait a couple of weeks for us to collect should we win.
Much to my surprise though, the next day he came back and asked what price I would pay. I gave a suggestion and he accepted. I guess in the end he felt it was more than he was likely to get by bidding. He cancelled the auction and we did the deal privately. As far as we were concerned we got a bargain and he did pretty well out of it too.
It never hurts to ask!
