Anyone use one of the dongle gadgets that claim to enable you to receive tv programs from around the world on the pooter. Currently looking at one that advertises "Access to world wide sports programs". Now, I don't want to watch world wide sports, or sports of any kind (Except boxing) but oh does like watching Corrie and all the other soaps and was wondering if one of these would be suitable and would save carting the tv and arial in the van. I don't want to buy one, leave the tele at home and then find all I can watch is ice skating from Hawaii or the like. So, would like to hear any comments ie coverage etc so can keep her happy whilst I amuse myself playing with my radios..........Mick
I don't know for sure, but I would guess that those that "claim to enable you to receive tv programs from around the world on the pooter" do it (if they do) by streaming/downloading through the internet. If so, you're relying on wifi where you camp, or a mobile broadband dongle, connecting to one of the mobile phone networks. Either way, you then have to consider how much you're allowed (and want to afford) to download. The alternative is to use a usb tv tuner stick, but then you will still need the tv aerial - the mini aerial (sometimes) supplied with them is not much use. Mind you, some of the usb sticks are not too brilliant - I have a (cheapish) Peak usb stick, and it usually gets some of the channels - the more you pay (for example a Hauppage?), the better it is likely to perform.

------------- What's the difference between a chicken?
I've got a tv tuner for the pc. Needed a good aerial but picked up free view easily enough. Was only about £20.
Just use the phone or ipad apps now though.

They also die if you leave them in the freezer.
Please keep your dogs at room temperature!
Tnks folks for comments, maybe a little more research, tho for 20 quid maybe worth a punt. Currently using a 3 mobile dongle which seems to be ok in all the locations we are inclined to visit. Was on the North Wales coast and the freeview reception was pathetic, hence the question..Mick
Im astounded by folk who want to watch films/telly on something like a tablet or mobile phone. In an age where you have something the size of a sofa to watch stuff on in your front room, folk are still happy to squint at something the size of a fag packet, just because they can.
