Try some of the budget hotel chains, contact their corporate department, and explain that you need a long term let for a month whist on business in the area, most do some super low cost rates, especially during the winter months, a plumber friend of ours uses these regularly and they can be as cheap as £20 a night, and some rooms can sleep upto 4 people.
The other option would be to place a small add in a local paper and see what turns up, some people who work away from home may welcome a house sitter during the colder months and may offer you a deal for a small rent.
