Has anybody heard of this OS called fedora, it is a Linux-based operating system, and can be used in addition to, or instead of, other operating systems such as Microsoft Windows or Mac, just wondered if anybody had used it and if so provide any feedback on it. Link to fedora.

I've never heard of that system but I have my laptop with Windows 7 and Ubuntu installed - you select which one to use when booting up.
Ubuntu is very good and there are loads of add-ons to make the system more useful. However, there is a limited supply of software available so, if you want to play games, forget it. It is a lot faster than Windows and, once you get used to it, it's brilliant for normal surfing etc.
Another Ubuntu user here. Fedora is just another "flavour" of Linux - there are quite a few.
I don't have any issues with Linux and manage to do my work on it as well as on my PC (I'm a website designer). There's lots of free software you can install via the software centre and the Libre office suite replaces MS office nicely for my needs.
My son has it on his netbook too and manages to play online games with no problem.
Fedora is a version of Red Hat Linux. I used it for a few years and had no problems with it. It is reasonably fast and tends to keep up to date with the latest Linux developments.
