Just received a personal weather warning from the Tanzanian Met Office.

Severe Flooding and high winds expected between 8th - 11th October. Expect 100mm of rain per day.

Think yourselves lucky UK!

To be honest, the reason I got the email is because I currently work in Tanzania..... and when it rains out here, it really means it. Coupled to the fact that the infrastructure out here is very fragile, anything like tropical rain usually means disruption to transport and power. My normal drive to work at 0600 takes 10 minutes. At 0700 1 hour due to the madness of the driving out here.  When the rain starts everyone seems to forget how to drive and the journey becomes impossible. As my collegues say out here: "TIA" This Is Africa.

As regards camping..... well yes we do that too. The difference is that the campsites are quite big, there are very few rules, the faclities are non existant, there is no shop, you can light as many campfires as you like and then of course there's the locals and wildlife to contend with. .....

The good news is that after a 6 month tour out here, I'm comming home in 11days! Who-hoo!
