The little socket thing in the back of my laptop is playing up. The power cable is very lose in the back of it and falls out, sometimes it doesnt even connect properly and the lappy won't stay on.
Anyone know how much it will cost to repair, is it a simple job?
My OH runs a computer repair company and says that if it's the DC socket they're about £5-£10 to buy but usually you have to strip the machine apart to replace it.
He sais he would normally charge about £50 plus the part.

Thanks. Its working now - but only because its sat on a coffee table and the wire is not moving at all. It can't be anything else doing it. Because once the wire is in and it stays still the thing stays on.
Well I didn't know that. Just had a look - very good.
I got the laptop from our big Tesco. Four years ago this Boxing Day coming.
My Dad got a Dell one from there for my brother in the summer and it failed, they rang Dell who sent a courier to pick it up to repair it, and it was returned damaged. Dell were hopeless so Dad went up to Tesco to ask if they could help and they swapped it for a brand new never out the box before one.
Will bear this in mind because at the moment it has started working properly.
I found that costs vary a lot, I had mine repaired for £15 plus the part, £25 total, son's Sony done at the same place £90! DOne by local electronics shop.
