S'ok, it was very confusing before but the message is very important. For years I was given NSAIDs without a PPI, nowadays they always give Lansaprazole or Omeprazole as well. I have problems as a result.

Ali xx
I have Omeprazole also, would like to stop at times but found its a lesser of 2 evils. Keeps things at bay.
But I have morphine patches for pain.
Your dead right about the message as it is so easy to be in a rush out to work and take meds without realising the damage they can cause without having something to eat first.
Ali you have lovely mountain photo's on your profile gallery. I used to love walking on the fells in Cumbria.
Good pair of hiking boots, rucksack with my sarnie (keeping the last sarnie just in case of emergencies) and a flask of hot tea or coffee. Sitting on top of the ridges by possibly a tarn and a hell of a row being mad by the herring gulls. Sheer bedlam
But loved every minute even the rain never stopped us. Including 13 days out of 14 rain. Had a frame tent then
. After a small VW campervan till it was pinched. That set us back a bit.
Thank you, that's in Austria, Bad Ischl I think. We don't get to holiday abroad any more as we care for my parents so since 2006 we have been stuck no more than 60 miles away.
Would love a VW but I gather you need to be a mechanic these days.
You don't always get pain down the leg sciatica. I never do, I just get a stabbing pain in my bottom!
I would suggest seeing a chiropractor, they're expensive but sometimes worth their weight in gold. No point visiting the doctor as they will just give you more pain relief whereas you need to sort out the problem not mask it.
I broke my back over 10 years ago and it was my chiropractor that saved me from a lifetime of pain. Alternate between ice and heat for inflammation, say 20 minute intervals and make sure you sleep with a pillow between your knees. Trust me, you will not believe how one simple pillow will relax your whole spine and pelvis and ensure you sleep a bit better.
But definitely the chiropractor.
Hope you're feeling better soon.

As a Healthcare professional, i would just like to stress, that you really should speak to a gp, practice nurse, out of hours gp practice etc rather than listening to advice on a chat forum.
I have absolute faith on all you good people on here and have tuned in for lots of advice in the past, but with regards to medical issues it really is not worth listening to other peoples stories as they may not be relevant to your specific problem.

I am suffering with backache at the moment, but it is due to kidney stones, might be worth checking.
If it is kidney stones, you really do have my sympathy. But if it is, please confirm which is the worst-kidney stones or labour. Only a woman can confirm this for me.
Go to the docs, but make sure you tell him/her that your on antibiotics and be wary of other drugs. My hospital doctor gave me antibiotics following my kidney stone blasting to prevent infection and they reacted so badly with other meds that I ended up in casualty having a medication review.

I too suffer from bouts of bad back pain.I have Athritis in my lower spine. I visit regular with a chiropractor. and this is a must. Generally a bad back will occur with the least amount of movement required.
I was reliably informed that it is usually what you were doing up to a week before that can cause the onset and not immediately what you were doing just prior to you recieving
the pain. Best to treat the muscle with cold rather than heat. and sleep with a lumbar pillow at night for the best support. Memory foam matresses are not the answer to those with bad backs as the damage is already done. I do use a Tens machine to relieve pain. and 1 brufen 3 times a day integrated with co codamol (taken with food)to eleviate pain and repair the muscle.
also use Glucosamine every day to repair cartlidge.
this does not irradicate it completely but you do learn when you need to take it easy.
If you need to pull aqua rolls or push and pull your caravan, best to wear a back belt for support and always
tense your stomach muscles before doing so
hope this helps

I went o GP and was getting better slowly on painkillers and anti inflamatories, so I went to chiro and 2 days later was 90% better.. Deffo worth the money!
Yep I saw my chiro on Monday and I am back functioning again now.
Chiro, icepacks and painkillers for a couple of days and much better.
I have no idea how it all works, I just know I faithfully visited my GP a few years back until having numerous bouts for 6 - 8 weeks at a time. I knew a chiro so went to her et voila, walking again within a couple of days. Now at the slightest hint I go back.
