I was on Naproxen for cervical spondulosis and it was brilliant at easing the pain, but after a couple of months i realised it was affecting my mind. I was at work one night when I couldn't remember what I was supposed to be doing, only momenterily.

My superviser advised me to go home and when sat in my car I couldn't remember how to turn the engine on!!

I went back into work, in tears, I was so worried. My supervisor arranged for someone to drive me home once he had established my OH was at home.

It got to the situation where I didn't know how to do simple, everyday things like making a cup of tea.

So be careful with Naproxen as any side affects don't necessarily appear at once, they can creep up on you over a matter of time

I'll second the cherries, hubby has gout in two toes and someone recommended cherries, about six a day. We can only get hold of dried ones but he has his six daily (or a few more!) and sometimes drinks cherry juice and the gout has gone. It is astounding! Four weeks ago he was hopping finding it very painful, now he says he doesn't get a twinge.

I've had to put up with it for years. As you probably know, gout is a build up of Uric Acid and I take Cherryactive concentrate every day to keep it at bay. www.cherryactive.co.uk will tell you everything you need to know about the product. I did try the capsules once but they didn't work for me so I changed back to the concentrate and am never without it in the house because I can't handle the thought of the pain gout brings with it. It's not a cheap procust but as I don't drink or smoke I don't mind that plus I now don't get gout and I sleep like a baby.
