Ohhhh goose sounds yummy - not something I have ever tried - maybe it is time I did!!

It is yummy, not difficult to cook with a little care. Less waste than a turkey but can still be eaten cold the next day. And you have the goose fat for roasties etc for a couple of weeks after. Actually Im not sure how long you can keep goosefat, I'll have to look into that, but I do keep a couple of clean jars ready for it.

I was asked by a friend what it tasted of, nearest I could say was if you like the dark meat on the turkey, it's like that but more so.  More flavour than turkey but still a poultry flavour, rather than a game flavour, if that makes sense.

I alway say its more ducky but not lol

We usually have home made Prawn Cocktail with Colmans Seafood Sauce for starters if we have visitors but as there is just the two of us this year we are giving the starters a miss. Main course will be Roast Beef, Yorkshire puddings, pigs in blankets, boiled sliced carrots, boiled brussels sprouts, roast parsnips, crispy golden roast potatoes and rich Bisto gravy with a little added honey, mustard, hint of garlic powder, thyme and a drop of double cream for that extra smooth taste. The table wine that we normally have is Martini Asti Spumanti and finally for sweet we have home made Christmas pudding served with some of the remaining double cream. Every three years we make our own Christmas puddings and keep them in storage as they mature with age very much like a fruit cake as it works out cheaper plus they taste like nothing you get in the shops. This year we happen to be on pudding number two.....yummy!

It's Xmas at ours this year woo hoo! I will either do watercress soup (so tasty and simple) or chicken vermicelli soup. A turkey and gammon from butcher, pigs in blankets, sprouts, carrots and butternut and of course yorkies. Followed by Xmas or choc pud brandy sauce or custard.   Later on cheese and biscuits followed by miniature cakes and chocs all accompanied by some fine white and red wine. I always oversize the meat so we can have cold meat meals and curry for days after - favourite time of year family altogether happy and enjoying each others company.

Ooo, pigs in blankets, I forgot about them, must make some to go with the duck, or just to eat as a snack.
