Hi, can anyone advise please. My family is going to Nice in France on Sunday for 6 weeks. They will not be hiring a car but will need taxis to and from the airport. Baby is 14 months old. Do the taxis have baby seats? Can we request them or how does it work?
Taxis are exempt apparently so I very much doubt they carry them.
Ali
Oh dear, dont really want baby travelling without one. They will have such a lot of to take already, buggy etc etc. Anyone know how early buses would run from airport to Nice central (near the Old Town)?
Put them on your lap, hold on tight and put the belt round both of you. Not a lot you can do about it to be honest. It's no different in the UK to be fair.
I wouldn't put the belt round both of you. That makes it a dead certainty that the child will be injured in an accident, due to the disparity between the weights.
Make sure the child is in the back seat, and hold on tight.

You should never do this, the seatbelt won't be positioned correctly on the child's body, and in an accident the force of the adult being thrown forward would crush the child between the adults body and the belt.
I'm with Tentz, I don't think a bus will be any safer. Being strapped into a buggy isn't really the same as being strapped into a car seat that's fixed to the car, and that's not what buggy straps are designed for.
It's wrong really isn't it, that we have all this legislation to keep our children safe, but then it apparently all doesn't matter if you go by bus or taxi? Stupid really. You'd think they'd make black cabs (or the equivalent) have child safety seats available for pre booking. I don't think that would be too difficult. And that would be better than saying that parents should provide one because not all seats are compatible with all cars.
But I'll try not to get on my soapbox because I could talk about child safety seats all day if you'd let me!
Is the pushchair one of those travel systems with the removeable car seat - just strap it in with the normal seat belt - alternatively pay extra to take the car seat as luggage - seen that at lots of airports.

Hi, No, they are taking my fold up buggy as their own is very bulky.
I'll be taking the Nice bus myself, thanks Tentz for posting the early time. I was going to take a taxi till my daughter told me it would be about 45€ - for such a short journey!
