Since the floods of 2007 (and given that I live and work in an area that's regularly affected by flooding) I carry in my boot a sleeping bag, roll mat, change of clothes, 2 litre bottle of water and pack of crispbreads. I also have in the car a woolly hat, warm gloves and thick socks. A snow shovel is all very well, but if you're stuck 26 miles from home that's a heck of a lot of shovelling!
