hello i would like to pick some ones brains if possible,my hubby and i are both in our 50s and hubbys job is finishing this year,we are both active and have been camping, caravaning and trailer tenting almost all our life and have gained lots of experience, however we have applied to the caravan and camping club to be considered as wardens, this was in oct last year but have never even got a reply. This is something we have thought about many times over the years and are under no illusions of an easy life but hopefully a more for fulling one doing something we both love.any advice about who to contact etc or wardens on here that could possible offer some advice on how to forfill our new ambition would be great .thanks Lynne
The rent a tent firms like Canvas Holidays employ seasonal UK staff at their sites on the continent & you can take your own caravan if you want, I think. Might not be exactly what you want but could give you some experience to get the job you do want.
I think there is a big waiting list for people wanting to be C.C and C.C.C wardens. Maybe trying some volunteer warden jobs for a wee while to raise your profile would help, I know it has been mentioned on here several times.

We were 'Wardens' now Holiday Site Managers for the C&CC for 14 years and loved every minute of it. We retired in 2001 and were then called back to do some more work for them for a couple of years. I think things have changed since then but my advice would be to go for it. Ring HQ and tell them you want a job. Its the right time of year as there are quite a few drop outs before the season starts for various reasons. Be prepared to try your hand at anything and go anywhere. It was the best decision we ever made and we still have many friends made on our first site which was Kessingland which we had for 6 years in the early 90s.
Hi,
We are about to start our second season as wardens with the Caravan Club, I know at the moment they are not accepting any new applications. There are a lot of vacancies advertised on www.caravan-jobfinder.co.uk/ not all of which require experience.
You need to be aware that the pay is not great and the hours can be long especially on private sites, we did a year on a private site before we started with the club, you have to deal with anything and everything, from blocked toilets to domestic disputes, not to mention the odd rude customer who thinks rules don't apply to them.
If you think you can cope with living in very close proximity to partners and colleagues 24hrs. a day and away from family and friends for the duration of the season and still be cheerful then start applying now.
We like the lifstyle but it's not everyones cup of tea.
Good luck if you decide to take the plunge.
We also applied to the C&CC last year and we've got an interview with them on weds eeeek, might be worth giving them a ring to see what is happening with your application
