I'm loath to change any settings because it has the odd "dicky fit" when I can't get onto the internet straight away and have to unplug it. I don't want to mess everything up.
Probably not much help, but Belkin routers are AWFUL.
I had the same router and got sick of its ability to just reboot randomly and not connect to the Internet, or be picky about which devices can connect to it.
Managed to get a TP-Link adsl modem/router off E-Bay for 20 quid delivered.
Hi Nora this is classed as an older router so may not support newer N classed devices. You may have some conflict with the security settings i.e. WPA 2 which means the kindle may have different security protocols to the router. I'm not sure wether this is a factor....?
Just my luck to have the old version!! Thanks for your help anyway.
I've got a router that Talk Talk sent me when I took out a new contract with them, but that's about 2 or 3 years old now and never been out of the box, so that's probably obsolete by now too.
Maybe I'll take a trip to PC World when I can get the car out of the drive and explain the problem and see what they've got at a reasonable price.

Don't buy anything yet! That Talk Talk router will most likely support the wireless 'n' standard!
I agree with heatonparkmassive if your not prepared to have a fiddle with the router settings on the Belkin (just make a note of any current settings before making any adjustments) then it might be worth trying the one sent from Talk Talk. One thing I will add PC world may not be the cheapest. By all means see if they can provide advice (if you find someone sensible and knowledgeable enough).
You have gained access to the Belkin Router via the 192.168.2.1 so all you need to do is adjust various settings to see if you can make the New Kindle connect. An easy way to see if a security protocol/setting is causing the conflict just try setting the router security to open network by disabling the security. If you can connect the kindle after doing this , it's the security protocols causing the problem.... Just remember as soon as you have tried to test this reenable the security settings otherwise all your neighbours may connect onto your Internet via your router.....
If you don't have any neighbours close by, live near a bus stop, railway station or other public buliding like a cafe, library or pub then having an open network will not be so much of an issue......
In other words if you live in the middle of nowhere your closest neighbour lives over a mile away and the only vehicles to access your roads are the local farmer and you, your probably safe to have an open network.
Seen this numerous times on many routers, to prove it is the router just remove all security settings and leave your wireless open, then connect both kindles and see if it works, 99% of the time it will be fine, remember to put your encryption back on at least WEP will do, but I have found many devices do not like WPA* on older routers.
Then get on the phone to TalkTalk and threaten to leave, they will send out a new router ASAP, if they don't just leave, plenty of LLU ISP's around or you may even have Fibre to cabinet in your area.
HTH :)
Edit : Ahh seen someone else has recommended removing encryption...Good man :)

Thats interesting, I have had a Belkin for four years now.......never missed a beat.
I've had 2, thought the bad experience with the first was a one off (the firmware that came with the 1st router wouldn't even connect to the Internet, unbelievable). Had to update firmware before even being able to use the router. Very poor indeed.
The 2nd one just kept rebooting itself spontaneously or disconnecting, so that you'd try to connect a phone to wifi and have to go into the router properties and reconnect before you could access the net on the phone. It WAS cheap, which is why I took it.
Wouldn't have another Belkin product thrown at me, but that's just my experience. I work in IT too, so don't speak without any knowledge.
You may have had no problems whatsoever and that is your experience. Unfortunately, the above is mine.
